Death's Door, the view from the Spanish announcers table: what a gaping asshole

what a gaping asshole

I’ve always liked Michael J. Fox; I dug his stupid movies and enjoyed Spin City as long as he was on it. So it bummed the fuck out’a me when he announced that he had Parkinson’s disease.

But instead of lying down he started throwing all his money and support behind research to find a way to overcome the disease. And every now and then I’d catch em on the TV talking or doing a guest spot on someone’s show and I’d remark that he’s hanging in there and was glad to see that he wasn’t letting shit break em down.

Now Fox is throwing his support behind any politico in favor of stem cell research since stem cells might hold the answer to a lot of injuries and illnesses out there including his. I can’t do nothing but support him in his efforts.

Now on the other hand you got that ofay, Goober looking, trash talking cocksucker Rush Limbaugh who after viewing some of the TV ads where Michael J. Fox is supporting candidates for political office who support stem cell research, is calling Fox out.

Calling him out by saying that Fox’s disability is a sham, an act, and that he’s exaggerating the effects of the disease in order to appear worse then he really is. Can you believe the fuckin unimaginable gall of this asshole muthafucker, to be so petty and lowdown that he makes light of someone’s disease?

I hope Rush Limbaugh comes down with some exotic flesh eating, ass churning, cock rotting disease that makes him loose control of every bodily function he has. And just before he goes to hell Michael J. Fox shows up to tell him to stop playing and pull it together.

Amen, Death!! My grandfather died from Parkinson's. It ain't pretty..trust me on that.

Now whether or not Fox quit taking his medication to show how awful this disease is or not; well, it is a moot mutherfucking point.

It is a progressive disease that has no cure..palliative medications or otherwise.

Yep Rush sure does not know when to holdem or foldem and seems to need a healthy dose of STFU. Maybe he's back on the hillbilly heroin again!

But for what it's worth..stem cell research IS going on anyway...all the feds did was refuse to finance it with tax dollars. So what?

It seems to me that MJF ads like this are just pandering to the ill informed........for political ends.
Not to achieve a scientific result.

As someone with a perfectly normal non-gay crush on Michael J. Fox (I love Family Ties, Spin City and the Back to the Future movies), that news about Rush really pisses me off. Next he'll pick on Terri Schiavo for not really being dead.

1. Rush Limbaugh is an asshole of the highest caliber.

2. People who listen to Rush Limbaugh are retarded lemmings.

3. Kudos to MJF for being public about his disease and for using his resources to help not only himself but lots of other people in the proces..

4. What's an ofay?

Ofay is a racial slur; slang term for a white person. The term first appeared in print in the early 20th century, and may be older still.[1] Its origin is unclear.

At least two possible derivations point to the Atlantic slave trade and Nigeria. During the 17th through 19th centuries, European traders established coastal ports in present-day Nigeria for their increasing traffic in slaves destined for the Americas. Thus, "Ofay" might derive from the Ibibio word "afia," which means "light-colored," and may have referred to European traders.

"Ofay" might also come from the Yoruba word "ofe," spoken in hopes of disappearing from danger such as that posed by European traders.

It's not like Michael J. Fox is smuggling Viagra out of the Dominican Republic, the island known for it's huge child-whore business trade.

Shame they only slapped Rush on the wrist, after a few trips to the island, his pencil-thin wrist must have been the size of Schwarzenegger's biceps.

From what I understand, it's the medicine that cause him to move about in such ways. Not skipping his dosages.

Should we tell him "Tough shit, Mike, we're not going to fund research because we need the money.. liberating Iraq.. funding Halliburton.. keeping investors happy.."?

It's bullshit, and everyone knows it. Nobody has a problem funding the research that keeps Rush able to fuck children in the Caribbean. Nobody has trouble funding the research that has kept Dick Cheney alive all these years after being bitten by the zombie-corpse of Richard Nixon. Nobody has a problem with funding the research that keeps Joe Lieberman immune to all known forms of truth and honesty.

I'd rather spend my tax money searching for a cure to a whole host of diseases than power the drills Iraqis are using on each other's HEADS. You get me?

First of all, I can tell none of you have ACTUALLY listened to Rush. In a nutshell, he states that when some one enters the political arena, than they better be prepared. If Fox wants to not take his medicine to exaggerate his condition, as he ADMITTED tp doing in his book, than GD it, be ready to effing get called on it.

Here is another fact for you. Stem cell research is not illegal. For God's sake, if the market thought that stem cell held great promise, money would pour in. What Fox is arguing for is GOVERNMENT funding. Fuck that. California voted last year in a bond issue for $6B(that is a B for billion) in stem cell research funding and has just admitted that it will be at least 15 years until any positive results, if any, could happen. That's what occurs when you get the GD government involved.

I can also recognize the dehibilitating effect of Bush Derangement Syndrome. It's always just a matter of time until this is all George Bush's fault and if we weren't in Iraq all of all problems would go away. I also realize it's futile to try and make factual arguments with people who say people who listen to Rush are retarded. I'm surprised I didn't see the usual Hitler comparisons. Did see a Halliburton one though. Never takes long.

In fact it's the left who've got their heads firmly planted up their asses. It's the left that doesn't admit that we are facing an enemy that wants to kill us and destroy western civilization. Lord almighty!!!! They preach this constantly in public!!!What is it going to take? A nuke? WMD attack? What? They flew airplanes in our buildings. There have been 4 serious attacks on our soil that have been thwarted. Yet if one would occur, it'd be Bush's fault. The guy can't win. Voting for democrats is a signal to our enemies that we don't have the will to defeat them.

One last point about the left. They trot out "victims" like Fox and now these victims are off limits to critisism. I call bullshit on that. I'm with Rush, if you step into public firmly lined up with one side OR THE OTHER. Expect to be critisized. Remember the Jersey girls? Oh my, they lost husbands in 9/11 but when conservatives brought forward women who also lost husbands in 9/11 and supported President Bush, they were savaged. The left are hypocrites and when they're called on it, they explode.

I wrote a series a few months back for Rusty on the history of Christianity. I did my best to be unbiased and factual, so I had to spend a good deal of time explaining the thousand-plus years that Christianity exercised both political and pietal power to extirpate every other religion on earth, including Islam.

There are fanatics in every religious group who continue to wish to wipe out everyone else and put themselves into prominence. Fred Phelps would like to run a world populated by his inbred family. Mel Gibson would like to invalidate Vatican II and bring back the Middle Ages of Roman Catholicism theocracy. A sect of Muslims find western culture offensively liberal in its social mores and refuse to allow American colonialism to exercise influence over their culture that may undermine the values they hold to be sacred.

Governments dating back to the time of the Roman Empire have understood and utilized the power of propaganda to sway the masses into believing those things that facilitate the government's aims. Propaganda is as much an art as a science and immensely powerful in the right hands. A naive public swayed into cooperation with government missives through the use of propaganda is a tool that can be utilized to support both emotionally and financially almost any stunt, no matter how insane, that the group of people in power put forth. The few who question, disagree, or are for whatever reason removed from the effect of said propaganda are labeled anti-patriotic, liberal, ignorant or at worst, treasonous. It is only until much later, sometimes years later, that the truth comes out, and even then there will always be a portion of the population that refuses to believe they were duped.

The fact remains that none of the highly touted 'weapons of mass destruction' have been found. The fact remains that American imperialism and colonialism have taken over and in some cases replaced traditional cultures. The fact remains that the American government considers itself to be above international treaties. And the further fact remains that American men and women have died in Iraq unnecessarily and as a result of the current administration's politics.

Regardless of any of the above, despite being one of the richest and most politically powerful nations on earth, America will never be truly civilized until we can provide at the very least healthcare for our citizens. It should come as no surprise to anyone that we are a warlike nation that finds no difficulty in assuming it has the right to trample over others; we don't even have compassion for our own.

And please remember, the reason that the federal government today mandates things like overtime pay, equal opportunity, a five day workweek and an eight hour day, with workmen's compensation et al, is because the Socialist Party fought long and hard to get those laws passed.

On behalf of all Socialists, and the left in general, you're welcome. And have a nice day.

Healthcare?? Whaaat???

Let's deal with the year 2006 OK? Yeah there was a time when the "Church" was, shall we say, overly evangelical. Just as there was a time when there was a need for unions. Those days are gone. Collectivists need unions. This is a country of meritocracy and where ever things are decided on any other basis than that, there is rot. Our public school system comes to mind first. And you can lay it right at the feet of the teacher's union.

In the year 2006, there is a fairly large fraction of Islam that is willing to use violence and terrorism. This fraction is estimated to be about 10% of Islam or roughly 120,000,000. That's a lot. And what is even more troubling is the even larger fraction that is either intimadated or supports the use of terrorism and won't speak out. You're foolish to ignore this or to blame it on America.

The left's canard about WMD is so old. Of the 22 points in the UN resolution authorizing the use of force in Iraq, only 7 dealt with WMD. And BTW, over 500 weaponized shells containing WMD have been found. Plus the delays in attacking Iraq gave Saddam plenty of time to move or hide them.

If in fact there it is finally determined that no really were no WMD, than look to the intelligence services of the largest weastern powers and Russia who ALL believed he had them.

And so what, this guy had to go. Sitting on that oil, sanctions about to be lifted, funding terrorists all over the middle east, allowing Iraq to be a haven for terrorists and terrorist groups. After 9/11, you'd want that?

You call it propaganda. Do you swallow without hesitation or question what CNN, CBS, NBC, TIME, spew out? Yet when Fox lets himself to be used in the fashion that he did and is called on it, than oh my, now that should be allowed to go unchallenged. That's BS.

Since you mentioned 9/11:

On 9/11, two commercial airliners went off course and over a period of at least fifteen minutes flew down the course of the Hudson River, past Stewart Air Force Base in some of the most watched airspace in the world, with no less than three major international airports (JFK, LaGuardia, and Newark) monitoring that airspace. These airports and their air traffic controllers are extremely well equipped and well trained. At Newark alone, planes take off and land on an average of every three minutes (drive down the turnpike if you think this is an exaggeration). In order to safely maintain the huge number of takeoffs and landings at three enormous airports, air traffic at all three airports is acutely aware of everything in the air larger than a seagull.

It might be just me, but I often wonder how two commercial airliners managed to waltz past the airforce base after going off their logged course and make it the rest of the way down the river into the city. I'm just saying that it's kind of a curious thing.

Regarding the rest: I don't quite think that 'overly evangelical' is an accurate term to describe dozens of Crusades and the Inquisition (which, by the way, still officially exists as a Vatican institution). And I think you hit the nail on the head when you said 'sitting on all that oil'. Who would you recommend take over in Iraq, to sit on all that oil? In the end, that's what this has all been about; gaining control of Middle Eastern oil, and doing whatever it takes to obtain that control.

And no, actually, I don't buy any of the media without hesitation. Anyone naive enough to believe that only some of the media are honest and the rest are liars are probably better targets for propaganda campaigns than the ones who believe they're all honest.

One viewpoint regarding MJF not taking his medication prior to an interview has not been considered in this discussion. His medication masks (but does not obliterate) his symptoms. By skipping a dose of his medication, he's able to show people the reality of Parkinson's with the actual effects and symptoms of the disease, and not a muted, masked, toned-down medicated version of it. Most people, unless they've been involved personally with the devastating effects of this disease, aren't aware of how it affects your life. By forgoing his medication, he gives people the opportunity to take a glimpse of the real picture, instead of a sanitized, medicated version.

Oh me, am I detecting a 9/11 conspiracy person? Nothing personal, but that's nutter stuff.

And dissecting the minutiae of the ad that Fox did misses the point. Whether he took too much medicine or too little or acted or what ever. It was another attempt by the drive-by liberals to paint the Republicans as cold hearted. That's it. Pure and simple. The ostensible purpose was to say one candidate was for funding and one wasn't(they actually got it WRONG in Maryland as the Republican candidate is for government funding and the democrat isn't) The real purpose was to imply the Republicans are evil.

They used their old script, parade out some one who has suffered. Now because this person is a "victim" they are off limits. I call bullshit on that.

I like Fox, I've always enjoyed his acting. But when he interjects himself into a political discussion, than don't you think it's unfair not to be able to opine on his POV.

If you listened to Rush, you would have heard he has no personal animas for Fox. In fact he feels pretty much the same way about him as me. But Fox has used his malady to push the agenda of the left. These ads were made and paid for by the democrat party, they have been picked up by a number of state parties.

They weren't a personal appeal from Fox's foundation for funding, they touted a particular democrat candidate. And that's fine. He is a democrat. Fine. A democrat with a disease. That's sad. But just because he has Parkisons doesn't mean he is off limits.

At no time did Rush make fun of Fox and if instead of going to the source(Rush's show) and listen to him, you listened to the MSM take things out of context, play video at higher than normal speeds, and generally ignore the point of Rush's argument, than I don't think you have a right to shoot your effing mouths off.

If you want me to list ACTUAL personal attacks on handicapped Republicans by democrats, say the word. Not attacks on their POVs, but ridicule of their malady or accidents.

And finally, Greg, man I like your writng, been coming here for years. I appreciate your open comments. This incident with Fox is nothing compared to the dispicable airing of sniper videos by CNN last week. Of all the Bush=Hitler, McChimphalliburtonNYTleaking garbage, that was the lowest, scum sucking thing I've ever seen. And baby, I didn't see a word about it here. I know it's your bandwidth, but if you're gonna get all serious on me, CNN deserved some harsh words. IMHO.

You just KNEW I was going to show up here.

Anon "MM" (not Anon Surfie) - Why is it that all of you fucktards are anonymous? Just curious.

"California voted last year in a bond issue for $6B(that is a B for billion) in stem cell research funding and has just admitted that it will be at least 15 years until any positive results, if any, could happen. That's what occurs when you get the GD government involved."

No, that's what occurs when you engage in BASIC RESEARCH. Idiot.

"...another attempt by the drive-by liberals to paint the Republicans as cold hearted. That's it. Pure and simple"

You don't mind if I borrow the brush that you brought to do a little paintin' do ya?

HEARTLESS 1: "They trot out "victims" like Fox and now these victims are off limits to critisism. I call bullshit on that."

Yeah, people with Parkinson's are such self-indulgent assholes!

HEARTLESS 2: "Remember the Jersey girls? Oh my, they lost husbands in 9/11..."

Fucking whiney bitches! Lose your husbands and the father of your children in a terrorist attack and then have The Nerve to voice an opinion on what should be done about it! Just STFU! Unless you back the President.

HEARTLESS 3: "Yeah there was a time when the "Church" was, shall we say, overly evangelical."

Like when the Christian Crusaders stormed Jerusalem, butchered every Muslim and Jew inside including women, children and babies until rivers of blood poured through the gates and walls?

They didn't "just" kill them. They chopped them up into the smallest pieces their dull, rusty swords could manage.

Describing atrocities like this as being "overly evangelical" is like saying that the asshat who beheaded Nick Berg and posted it on the Internet was being "a bit too ticklish and familiar with someone he didn't know". Pencil-dicked geek.

HEARTLESS 4: "The left's canard about WMD is so old. Of the 22 points in the UN resolution authorizing the use of force in Iraq, only 7 dealt with WMD. And BTW, over 500 weaponized shells containing WMD have been found."

Oh, you are SO RIGHT! I know we all get tired of hearing how 3000 American men and women were shoved into a fucking meatgrinder (similar to the one that that Dubya, Cheney and Rumsfeld all pussed out of during Vietnam) because the President flat out fucking lied to the American people.

We should just give him a "mulligan" on that and move on, shouldn't we?

Polish my gavel, asswipe. The hearings start in two weeks. Can you spell "The Hague"?

Oh, and BTW, those rusty old weaponized shells dated to before the FIRST Gulf War. Ignorant Dickweed.

HEARTLESS 5: "And so what, this guy had to go. Sitting on that oil, sanctions about to be lifted, funding terrorists all over the middle east, allowing Iraq to be a haven for terrorists and terrorist groups. After 9/11, you'd want that?"

Geez, where to start with such lunacy?

I'll start here "allowing Iraq to be a haven for terrorists and terrorist groups".

Are you fucking INSANE?!? Saddam didn't allow ANY DISSENT OF ANY KIND. He was a ruthless fucking dictator who didn't have any qualms aginst using the few WMD he actually DID have against his own people, the Kurds, or anyone else he thought was an internal threat.

Harbor terrorists? Don't think so! Him harboring terrorists would be like us giving Political Asylum to al Queda because they would be "persecuted" if we sent them home.

Were you home-schooled in rural Kansas? Is that why you lack any critical, analytical skills whatsoever? Shit for brains!

HEARTLESS 6: "...parade out some one who has suffered. Now because this person is a "victim" they are off limits. I call bullshit on that...He is a democrat. Fine. A democrat with a disease. That's sad. But just because he has Parkisons doesn't mean he is off limits."

Yep. You're right. Nothing "heartless" about that attitiude, ya fucking creep.

I call bullshit on your attitude towards people with disabilities who want to participate in the political debate.

Debate their position. Debate their logic. Debate their reasoning. But for fat-assed, viagra-poppng, Dominican-child-fondling (jeez...I'm really getting the hang of this right-wing, Fox-Network, "fair and balanced reporting" thing) Rush Limpdick to be talking about how MJF was acting, or thrashing or shaking or flailing...Good God. What a fuckwad. Hey! That kinda rhymes!

HEARTLESS 7: "If you want me to list ACTUAL personal attacks on handicapped Republicans by democrats, say the word. Not attacks on their POVs, but ridicule of their malady or accidents."

Yeah. I'd like that a lot. Consider this "the word".

I WANT to read about Democrats attacking Republicans and ridiculing them because of their maladies and accidents.

Only rule is, it has to be an actual link to a REAL NEWS SOURCE. Any link back to Fox/Ailes is bullshit. Unless they provide a link to a REAL NEWS SOURCE.

After Xavier's eloquence I'm almost embarrassed to say anything but I just wanted to put in a word about this:

"Just as there was a time when there was a need for unions. Those days are gone. Collectivists need unions. This is a country of meritocracy.."

No need for a union? Come work in one of the two remaining 'right-to-work' states in the union. Come be an unrepresented nurse in North Carolina. We work with higher nurse-to-patient ratios (in little words so you understand, this means you share your nurse with more other people, getting less of her time and care than you deserve) for less pay and with poorer benefits than almost anyone else. This, in the end, translates into poor patient care, because most of the legislation that nurses' unions have passed in other states (see California for the stellar example) deal with improving patient care through reducing ratios, workloads, redundant paperwork and mandatory overtime. The focus of a nurses union is and always will be to improve patient care. In North Carolina, our nurses work short with insane ratios and increasingly huge workloads for ridiculously small sums, and in the end, it's the patient who's the one suffering, because he deserves to have more than 1/7 or 1/8 of his nurse's time. Come be a patient at any hospital in North Carolina; despite their reputation as some of the finest medical centers in the world, nursing unions are illegal and attempting to organize nursing labour will get you fired. I imagine that you might gain a better understanding of the benefits of unionization following your inpatient stay.

So apart from the whole idea that America is a meritocracy, which it is not and never has been, the whole idea that unions are no longer necessary and only good for 'collectivists' proves that you have a real narrow focus of whatever undereducated slice of Americana you live in.

Sorry it's taken me so long to get to this point; we've had a lot going on in Braj.

Have a nice day.

I'm just going to have to disagree with you about the need for unions in this day and age. It's a time of skills and the more you have the further you can go in America. I'd rather not put my future in someone else's hands. Never have. Been working for myself for 40 years. I've had to deal with overseas competiton and undermarket wages paid to illegal aliens. I've had to change, improve my business and product. I've had to make what I do untouchable. And I always am thinking. I believe in a union, you are leaving that to someone else and settling for the bottom fruit. I guess for many that is OK. The great thing about America is if that is what you want, fine, but if you want to reach for the fruit at the top, you can. It takes hard work, not just working hard.
