So I’m figuring that it’s ok to plunder and sack without compassion as long as it’s in the name of your god or church?
I’m not the sharpest stick in the box but I know my history. And I’m thinking that maybe the Pope needs to bone up on his a bit before he starts talking out of his ass.

The church has been plundering and pillaging in its own name for millenia.. nothing new about that. The Vatican museum is probably the richest in the world because of it.
I think what he's trying tactfully to say is that he wants a cut of the goods.
The Pope's German!
Germany is right now the centre of European angst and self loathing.
Benedict is talking about his own (European) abuse of African peoples over the last 100 years in particular.
Germany, France, Spain, Portugal in particular left their former colonial subjects with nothing but crap to deal with.
So it's like a confession and an act of contrition for the Pope to make statements like this. Makes him feel better! And yes it is bullshit as long as the church fails to acknowledge it's complicity!
The Catholic Church might not have invented "sacking and plundering", but they sure as fuck raised the bar for everyone else and turned it into a steady stream of revenue.
The Knights Templar pretty much invented modern international banking and they did it with a whole bunch of shit they stole during the crusades under direct orders from the Pope.
Benedict will have a lot more credibility when he takes a vow of poverty on behalf of the entire church, empties the vaults, and give back everything they stole.
Yeah. That's gonna happen.

I am catholic, born and raised. There are many things that piss me off about the Catholic Church. Their attitude regarding women, gays piss me off. Their inaction regarding pedophiles really upsets me. I consider myself an open minded catholic. I love the Jesuits (Society of Jesus). They encourage thinking, social justice. They have not always been in the good graces of the Vatican. I know the Jesuits aren't perfect. But I have witnessed their goodness.
I love XO's "empties the vaults". I believe Jesus would say the same.
This must be Kiss Xavier's Ass day today because I gotta agree with him again. The Pope needs to sell everything the Church ownes, pay off the molestation settlements, give the rest to the poor (as Jesus teaches) and get a goddamn job. Hate filled pieces of molesting shit, all of them.
